Robert Sighiartău, the general secretary of PNL, stated that the chances of reaching an agreement to form a new Government are very small, considering the political deadlock of the last few weeks.
He asserted that PSD, which "generated the crisis together with AUR", did not propose viable solutions. The deputy added that PNL, USR, and UDMR "have ceded quite a lot" in negotiations with PSD, proposing successive minority governments, but this solution was not taken into consideration.
Sighiartău mentioned that the solution is now in the hands of President Nicușor Dan, who must decide between the two governing options. Additionally, Sighiartău commented on Nicușor Dan's statement that PNL has changed its position expressed in the initial negotiations, calling it a "party statement".
He also emphasized the need for an extraordinary session of Parliament to adopt the necessary laws for the reforms in PNRR, considering the eight milestones to be fulfilled.
Sighiartău reiterated that the final decision belongs to the president, who should mediate a compromise to avoid a new political crisis.
