The Ombudsman, Renate Weber, rejects in an interview with HotNews the accusations that she has done "a favor to the PSD" by referring to the Constitutional Court regarding the ordinance on reducing expenses in the administration and insists that the Government has modified dozens of laws through a single emergency ordinance.

"You have my word of honor: no one, ever, from the entire political spectrum, has allowed themselves to ask me to do or not do something," states the Ombudsman in an interview in the HotNews studio.

According to Weber, the referral to the CCR is a reaction to the modification of 34 laws through a single ordinance, without a vote in Parliament, which, she argues, severely affects democracy and the rule of law.

Responding to the fact that the appointment of another person to her position was postponed last week at the proposal of the PSD, she claims that it actually reflects a lack of interest in this institution.

Her mandate expired in June 2024, and she remains in office according to the law.

Weber explained that her activity is not limited to challenging ordinances but also includes protecting citizens' rights. She also rejected accusations of politicizing the institution, stating that public perception is influenced by a superficial analysis of her activity.
