The president of PSD Buzău, deputy Romeo Lungu, stated that he will not exclude the mayor of Buzău, Constantin Toma, from the party, despite Toma's announcement that he will not run for a new mandate on behalf of PSD. Lungu emphasized that PSD will have a candidate for the local elections in 2028, but did not specify who that would be.

He mentioned that it is important to discuss with colleagues and citizens to choose the right candidate. Regarding Toma, who has criticized the PSD leadership, Lungu stated that he is not in favor of excluding members from the party for differing opinions.

Toma confirmed that he has resigned from leadership positions in the party and that he will no longer seek the vote of the people of Buzău as a PSD member, considering the decisions he deems wrong by the party. He is considering an independent candidacy for a new mandate.
