The interim leader of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, stated that the elections for the Capital City Hall must be treated as a political decision at the coalition level, not just as a competition for a name. He specified that the PSD accepts the organization of the elections only if the parties in the alliance establish either a common candidate or separate candidates for each formation. Otherwise, Grindeanu says, the PSD risks being isolated within the coalition. He warned that any unilateral decision to organize the elections, without the PSD's agreement, would demonstrate a greater desire for power than for maintaining the political alliance. The social-democratic leader rejected accusations of political blackmail, emphasizing that this is a principled decision regarding the functioning of the coalition.
