Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated that over 60% of the energy produced in Romania comes from state-owned companies, such as Hidroelectrica, Nuclearelectrica, and Complexul Oltenia, emphasizing that any increase in their performance will directly reflect in prices.
The head of the Executive criticized the current managements, appointed based on legislation regarding corporate governance, accusing them of lacking relevant performance indicators that would stimulate the completion of projects.
In this context, the prime minister announced the intention to audit the mandate contracts and to revise the performance indicators, so that they become clear and measurable.
Bolojan also drew attention to delays in important projects in the gas sector and storage capacities, warning that Romania risks losing major opportunities if the management of state-owned companies does not improve performance. He emphasized that making investments is essential to avoid blocking or losing strategic projects supported by the government and the private sector.
