Asked on TVR whether there is a discussion in the Government regarding raising the retirement age for military personnel and police officers, Prime Minister Bolojan confirmed: "This is a reality that concerns these categories as well. And here, controlling expenses is not done by reducing staff, because there is a personnel deficit. Controlling expenses is done by raising the retirement age, respecting some rules of common sense. Those who today are of retirement age and can retire are subject to, as in the proposal of the magistrates, the transitional option, meaning they can maintain their current rights, regardless of how long they work. We do not want a wave of people to retire, as it does not help us at all. It does not help them either and it does not help us. Secondly, we need to find options that are as fair and honest as possible for raising the retirement age, finding some formulas for accelerated retirement where it truly justifies, and I have given examples, I did not shy away from saying that," said Ilie Bolojan.
