The Praid Salt Mine will be rebuilt with the help of over 14 million euros, funds allocated by the European Commission through a program for disaster situations, accessed by Romania after the devastating floods of 2025. In a broadcast on Euronews Romania, Diana Buzoianu, the interim Minister of the Environment, stated that the works have already begun with the construction of the first floors, and the construction site could be opened this year.

Diana Buzoianu emphasized the importance of these works for preventing future floods, mentioning that the work plan has been approved. Additionally, the minister highlighted the need for works to ensure access to drinking water for the affected communities, which currently depend on desalination solutions.

"We have the work plan approved and the stages have already begun to be completed so that the construction site can be opened. This year I hope we will have the construction site open. We have allocated the necessary funds for opening the construction site and for starting the works. The first floors have already been completed to start the works, so in the future, if another flood occurs, like last year's flood, a catastrophe will not happen again, and the water can be diverted," explained Diana Buzoianu.
