Turda Salt Mine will expand its tourist circuit by developing Iosif Mine and modernizing the treatment center, in a project expected to take approximately two years. The tourist attraction will remain open to the public throughout the works.

Iosif Mine, which can currently only be viewed from a distance, will be equipped with panoramic lifts, walkways and an artificial salt river. The mine is one of the four excavations that make up Turda Salt Mine, alongside Rudolf, Ghizela and Terezia mines.

The investment aims to increase the salt mine’s tourist appeal and contribute to the development of the local economy. The project is financed by Banca Transilvania, with the financing guaranteed through the Investment and Development Bank. Intermediation was provided by TUD Investment Consulting.

“It is one of the places that manages to surprise me every time,” said Tiberiu Moisă, Deputy General Manager of Corporate & SME at Banca Transilvania, highlighting the investment’s potential more than 100 meters underground.
