Ilie Bolojan, the president of PNL, stated that his party will not support the initiatives initiated by the AUR leader, George Simion, for the suspension of President Nicușor Dan.
In an intervention on TVR 1, Bolojan emphasized that, although it is possible to criticize those holding public office, it is essential for Romania to have stable institutions, considering the low level of trust in them.
He argued that the suspension would further affect institutional stability.
"From my point of view, we are in a situation where trust in institutions in Romania is quite low. And we will not support such an initiative, because we need institutions that have a certain stability," said Ilie Bolojan on TVR.
George Simion announced on Facebook on Tuesday that AUR is starting the procedures for the suspension of President Nicușor Dan and is asking the head of state to appoint a prime minister this week, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution.
