In a meeting of the National Liberal Party, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated that the party is united around its goals and accused the Social Democratic Party of a "deceitful strategy" aimed at avoiding government responsibility and regaining the electorate. Bolojan conveyed to the liberals that the social democrats would try to weaken the PNL in the long term, including in the perspective of the 2028 elections, and insisted that controversial decisions were made by mutual agreement within the coalition.
The criticisms were reinforced by the first vice-president of the National Liberal Party, Ciprian Ciucu, who stated that the PSD "dug its own grave" and is trying to drag the PNL down as well. He rejected the idea of political subordination, stating that he prefers a strong party, even in smaller alliances, rather than being the "spare tire" of the PSD. Notably, even internal critics of Bolojan, such as Hubert Thuma, expressed their support for the Prime Minister in this tense moment.
