Ciprian Ciucu, the leader of PNL, stated that his party could vote for a minority government formed by PSD and UDMR, in case no other viable political solution is found. He emphasized that the final decision will be influenced by the evolution of political negotiations in the upcoming period. This statement comes in a context of political uncertainty, in which PNL is seeking to clarify and define its position and strategies in relation to other parties. Ciucu mentioned that the liberals are open to discussions, but that any support will depend on the conditions and proposals that will be presented during the negotiations. This position could significantly influence the Romanian political landscape in the upcoming period.
"It depends a lot on how things will evolve. What we have said is that those who created a majority to overthrow the government must assume the same majority to form the new government. In the case where PSD, which was part of this coalition, with which we had a signed protocol, does not assume governance and acknowledges that it does not have the courage to govern, after it overthrew the government, if there is no other possibility, we do not shy away from responsibility, but they must be given the chance to form the government because they overthrew the government. Whenever you overthrow something, you must have something else to put in its place. Now we have invited them to assume governance. If they come and say okay, we assume governance, we can consider it, but, attention, what I say here I say in a personal capacity, so I speculate (...) if they want a vote of investiture, we can limit ourselves to a vote of investiture, so that we have a functional government. We cannot remain with a government without powers," declared Ciprian Ciucu, on Digi24.
