Petre Emanoil Neagu, a social-democrat deputy from Buzău and former president of the County Council, announced that he is joining PNL, following the withdrawal of support for Ilie Bolojan by PSD. Neagu participated in the meeting of the National Political Bureau of PNL and stated that he will submit the necessary documents to the Chamber of Deputies. The president of PSD Buzău, Romeo Lungu, reacted harshly, suggesting that the mayor of Buzău, Constantin Toma, might follow the same path. Neagu explained that his decision was motivated by incompatibilities with PSD, highlighted by his absence from a recent party event. Lungu considered the move to be motivated by personal interests and emphasized that Neagu had benefited from support from PSD without making significant contributions. Lungu added that it is time for older politicians to step aside in favor of younger competencies. This change was anticipated by Lungu, who mentioned that discussions about Neagu's departure had been taking place for several months.
