Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu stated that Romania is in a critical situation, comparing it to a ship in a full storm, having a fire on board. In an interview, she emphasized that not everyone in the political class is focused on solving problems, but rather on public image. Gheorghiu highlighted the importance of political will for implementing the necessary reforms, mentioning that citizens are no longer satisfied with promises, but want decent public services, running water, roads, and an efficient education system. She stated that Romania has the necessary resources to achieve these reforms, but it is essential for citizens to put pressure on politicians to implement them.
"We need to implement the reform and here political will is essential. What we are facing at the moment is, as we know, in Romania, a permanent political crisis and I must say this, Romania is now like a ship on a sea in a full storm and with a fire on board and it seems that not everyone on board is focused on putting out the fire, but rather thinking about how to look good in the picture or how to snatch the storm from the hands of the one who is really trying to put out the fire. This political will is needed and I believe that politicians should understand that people are no longer satisfied with words, they are no longer satisfied with a kilogram of sugar before elections, that they want to see decent public services, that they need running water, roads, a good education system and that for this political will is essential," stated Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghiu.
