Nicușor Dan reacted to the Recorder documentary "Captured Justice." He stated that he watched it until the last minute.
"I watched the Recorder documentary about justice from start to finish. The easiest thing is to revolt, once again, and to throw the blame generically. It is much harder to actually solve the problems in justice. First of all, congratulations to the creators, who bring important issues into public debate in a way that is accessible to the public. Secondly, I do not want to excuse politics in any way. The fact that the anti-corruption fight has dramatically diminished has political influence. The appointments of chief prosecutors have been political. Society has long been talking about problems in justice without seeing, at the level of the Ministry of Justice, a real willingness to truly engage with them.
We discuss with magistrates. I invite all magistrates to write to me directly about the problems they encounter, and I assure you that I will personally read what you send me. But there must also be an assumption within the profession. I am convinced that the vast majority of magistrates are serious people, of good faith. It is their responsibility, beyond current cases, to get involved in solving the problems of their profession. And I assure you, in turn, of my involvement and good faith to bring justice where the Romanians want it." stated President Nicușor Dan in a Facebook post.
