President Nicușor Dan convened a meeting at the Cotroceni Palace with the leaders of the governing Coalition and representatives of the magistrates to discuss the draft law regarding the pensions of magistrates, which was rejected by the Constitutional Court. The discussions will take place on Wednesday, after a press conference scheduled for 12:00 PM. Following the rejection of the law, it was decided to establish a working group to amend the normative act, considering that the Government did not request the CSM's opinion, contrary to the Constitution. The President emphasized that the issue of special pensions for magistrates needs to be corrected, but warned that it has become a subject of political campaigning, affecting the image of magistrates. Additionally, the CSM condemned the statements of Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu, who compared the pensions of magistrates to funds for minors, deeming them inappropriate and populist.
