Nicuşor Dan, to Romanians in New York: “We would be delighted to have you close, and I hope we can find those ways to harness the potential we all have”

President Nicușor Dan asked representatives of the Romanian community in New York on Tuesday to contribute their experience and expertise to Romania’s development. The appeal was made during a meeting held as part of the official visit the head of state is making to the United States to attend the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

Nicușor Dan stated that the Romanian state has been seeking methods for more effective cooperation with the diaspora and with various private structures for some time. He emphasized that Romanians abroad have performed in a more competitive environment and can contribute to the transfer of experience and best practices.

The president acknowledged the problems Romania is facing, including corruption and the deficient functioning of certain institutions, but highlighted the progress made in recent decades, especially after joining the European Union.

"Thank you for taking the time to be together this evening and to attend the special event a little earlier. I want to thank you for being here and giving Romania a good image. "I hope that the coming years will consolidate this expertise, stabilize this expertise, so that it becomes a self-confident society. Because that would be our objective for the coming years, and, in this effort, if you wish, we would be happy to have you close, and I hope we can find those methods through which to use the potential that we all have," the Romanian head of state told Romanians in New York
