Nicușor Dan presented an account of his visit to the UN: discussions on investments from the US, meetings with American officials, and meetings with members of the Romanian community

President Nicuşor Dan presented on Wednesday evening a review of his visit to New York, where he led Romania’s delegation to the UN General Assembly. The head of state took part in the plenary session, the Security Council meeting and the Crimea Platform, as well as the reception hosted by the President of the United States.

During the visit, Nicuşor Dan met with Romanian and American businesspeople interested in Romania, representatives of JP Morgan, financiers of Romanian bonds and officials from the U.S. agency for foreign trade. He presented the country’s investment opportunities and its political and financial situation.

The president also spoke with Romanian technology entrepreneurs about using their expertise in future projects in Romania. He also took part in meetings with U.S. officials, former U.S. ambassadors to Romania and representatives of the Atlantic Council.

An important objective of the visit was promoting Dacian Cioloş’s candidacy for the position of secretary-general of the International Organisation of La Francophonie. Nicuşor Dan held discussions with representatives of Armenia, Lebanon, Guinea and Senegal.

The head of state visited the World Trade Center Memorial, where he paid tribute to the five Romanians killed in the terrorist attacks 25 years ago, and met with members of the Romanian community in the United States.
