President Nicușor Dan told Romanians in the diaspora on Thursday to use and test Romania’s healthcare system, arguing that the country has made significant progress over the past two decades.
The head of state acknowledged that Romania’s healthcare system still has shortcomings and dysfunctions, but emphasized that these do not negate the progress made over the past 20 years.
The message was addressed to Romanians who have left the country, as the president encouraged them to view Romania also through the lens of the changes that have taken place during this period. Nicușor Dan called for a direct assessment of the country’s medical services, despite the problems that persist.
”I am pleased and honored to be here with you. I thank those of you who traveled long distances to attend this meeting. I would like to begin by congratulating the organizers of this format, who are trying—and succeeding—to bring together entrepreneurs and successful people from the Diaspora with the Romanian ecosystem. My appeal—obviously, the choice remains each person’s; we live in a free world, and some people have sacrificed themselves for this freedom—is that the Diaspora should test Romania. Test Romania’s healthcare system, because, despite all the shortcomings and dysfunctions, Romania has made progress in 20 years. The medical equipment in Romania is no longer what it was 20 years ago. We have doctors who trained in major clinics abroad. I would like to congratulate in advance those who will receive awards and assure each and every one of you of our openness to partnership between public authorities and the private sector, the academic community, and the Diaspora in general. I hope that together, by learning from one another and working together, we can do better for this country and for all of us,” the president said in his speech at the RePatriot Gala “Top 100 Romanians from Around the World”
