Nicusor Dan says Romania is better off than it was a year ago and that politicians make the right decisions at important moments.

President Nicuşor Dan stated at the Via Transilvanica Business Fest, held in Piatra Fântânele, in Bistriţa-Năsăud County, that Romania is not in a catastrophic situation, even though the country's problems are frequently presented in an alarmist manner.

The head of state said that Romania is in a better position than it was six or 12 months ago, including regarding its country rating. He acknowledged that politicians are often immature, but argued that, on important issues, they ultimately make the right decision.

Nicuşor Dan expressed his confidence in the private sector, which he said has achieved important economic results, sometimes “despite” the state. The president called for better cooperation between authorities and entrepreneurs and highlighted progress in infrastructure, which can facilitate families moving to rural areas and commuting to cities.

However, he stressed that the gap between urban and rural education must be reduced, including through measures to encourage teachers to work in villages.

The president attended the event to promote Via Transilvanica, which he said brings communities together and helps people get to know one another better. Nicuşor Dan unveiled a milestone and wrote the message “I believe in Romania” on it.
