President Nicușor Dan reacted after the Romanian Constitutional Court admitted the referral of the High Court of Cassation and Justice, blocking the reform of judges' pensions proposed by the Government. In a post on X, Dan emphasized that the reform remains a priority and that it is not against judges, but aims to correct an abnormal provision, namely the pension equal to the salary.

He mentioned that all parties in the coalition support this reform and that, after the publication of the reasoning of the CCR's decision, a new legislative text will be drafted. Former CCR judge, Petre Lăzăroiu, stated that it was expected that the reform would not pass the constitutionality test, considering it discriminatory and emphasizing that it should be applied to all categories of pensioners with special pensions. This will require a resumption of the legislative procedure to comply with the CCR's decision.
