The Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) reacted positively to the decision of the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR), which declared the law regarding the pensions of magistrates unconstitutional. CSM emphasized that this ruling reaffirms its role as a guarantor of the independence of justice and imposes a real inter-institutional dialogue between the branches of government. The CCR's decision, adopted on October 20, 2025, sanctioned the lack of CSM's opinion in the process of adopting the law, highlighting the necessity of consulting the judicial authority in legislative and executive initiatives. CSM expressed regret that these requirements were ignored by political factors, which led to the intervention of the CCR. The Council reaffirms its openness for dialogue with the other branches of government to find solutions to the difficulties in the judicial system, ensuring respect for constitutional values.
