The interim president of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, stated that, according to some sources, the judges of the Constitutional Court (CCR) would have rejected the reform of magistrates' pensions on substantive grounds. Grindeanu did not specify the sources of the information or whether they come from judges appointed by the PSD. He also requested Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan to negotiate with the justice system regarding the law for reforming magistrates' pensions, despite the clear opposition from the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM).

Grindeanu criticized Bolojan for not taking into account the observations of President Nicușor Dan, who called for a moderation of the reform. The CCR rejected the reform project with a vote of 5-4, on formal grounds, because the government did not wait for the CSM's opinion for 30 days, which represents a first in censoring a project on this basis.
