Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated that the reform of judges' pensions is a firm objective for the Romanian Government, supported by the entire coalition. The decision of the Constitutional Court (CCR) did not reject the project on its merits, but raised a procedural objection, thus allowing the Government to resume the necessary steps. Bolojan emphasized that judges' pensions, which allow retirement at 48-50 years and offer amounts equivalent to the last salary, constitute unacceptable privileges from a social and budgetary perspective. He mentioned that the reform is not a political necessity, but a necessity for Romania. The Prime Minister confirmed that the Government will respect the procedural standard established by the CCR regarding the advisory opinion of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM), an opinion requested on August 22, and the Government's assumption of responsibility took place on September 1.
