Mohammad Murad, a deputy of the extremist party AUR, declared on Tuesday that he will support the Veștea government, provided that it presents a program that meets the needs of the citizens. He stated that he will vote for the liberal cabinet only if it comes with "concrete things", although the leader of the AUR senators, Petrișor Peiu, emphasized that the formation will not support this government.

"I do not believe that it is betrayal. Betrayal is when you betray the country. I am not a person who betrays the country," Mohammad Murad added for Cotidianul.ro, when asked if his statement could be interpreted as a possibility of betraying AUR.

His announcement came shortly after the designated prime minister, Veștea, stated that he would negotiate with AUR to obtain the necessary votes for the investment of his government.

Veștea needs the support of parliamentarians from extremist parties, such as AUR, SOS, POT, PACE, and UPR, to secure a majority at the Victoria Palace.

In contrast, the PNL, USR, and UDMR parties announced that they will not support the Veștea government.

President Nicușor Dan, who appointed Veștea without prior consultations with PNL, emphasized that he will not name a prime minister who depends on the votes of extremist parties.
