The former prime minister accuses a "accounting trick" for the reduction of the deficit by the Bolojan Government. Romania has entered technical recession, after the Gross Domestic Product in the fourth quarter of 2025 was, in real terms, 1.9% lower compared to the third quarter of 2025. This is the second consecutive quarter of decline, after the GDP also decreased by 0.2% in the third quarter of 2025 compared to the second quarter, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
"Mr. Bolojan has come and has two negative quarters after all the so-called reforms. How can you? Tell me, are we normal in the head? We are the first state in the world that went into recession without realizing it? We were in recession two years ago and we didn't realize it," said Marcel Ciolacu.
