Designated Prime Minister Luca Niculescu met on Sunday at Vila Lac with some of the ministers proposed for the future Government to discuss the governing program and the cabinet's composition. The meeting is taking place ahead of the hearings in Parliament and the investiture vote.
On the same day, the political agreement between Luca Niculescu and PNL President Ilie Bolojan is due to be signed. The Liberals decided to support the cabinet in the vote, but will subsequently move into opposition.
The PNL's decision comes with an ultimatum for party members holding positions in government structures, agencies, or state-owned companies. They must resign, and those who refuse risk being expelled from the party.
The joint standing bureaus of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate decided that the candidates' hearings would take place on Monday and Tuesday. The vote of confidence is scheduled for Tuesday at 14:00, during the joint session of Parliament.
For investiture, the Luca Niculescu Government needs at least 233 votes. If the cabinet is rejected, President Nicușor Dan could consider dissolving Parliament and calling snap elections.
