UDMR President Kelemen Hunor said Monday evening on Digi24 that society’s expectations of the new Government could only be assessed after the first major decisions, the budget revision and, above all, the presentation of the draft budget.
The UDMR leader argued that the moment of truth would be the adoption of the new budget, since a budget revision does not normally allow for the introduction of new policies, but only for balancing expenditure and revenue. That, he said, would show the direction of the Executive’s budgetary policy.
Kelemen Hunor described the Government led by Luca Niculescu as “a government with many ministers from the PSD,” saying that, for this reason, the party would bear direct political responsibility for the Executive’s decisions. He said the prime minister is administratively responsible for the act of governing, while the PSD president will have to explain political developments publicly on a weekly basis.
Asked whether it was the president’s government, the UDMR leader replied that, constitutionally, it is the Government of Romania, but that its political closeness to President Dan is visible.
