The president of UDMR, Kelemen Hunor, was reportedly at informal consultations with President Nicușor Dan on Thursday morning, following the fall of the Bolojan Government, in an attempt to find a solution to the political crisis, writes Digi24 and HotNews.
The informal consultations at Cotroceni would continue after being opened on Wednesday by the President of Romania, through a meeting with the USR leader, Dominic Fritz.
Hunor expressed UDMR's desire to restore the previous coalition, made up of PSD, PNL, USR, and UDMR, a proposal rejected by PNL and USR.
"All solutions must be left on the table, no solution is undemocratic, the vote must be respected. Our option would be to restore the coalition that functioned until a month ago, if a prime minister can be found who can be accepted by all parties and who would not be a rival to any, especially referring to the large parties. PNL's decisions are known, but discussions must continue," said Kelemen Hunor on Wednesday.
He emphasized that he is not considering forming a government with the small parties in Parliament, which he referred to as 'political orphans'.
The discussions were reportedly opened on Wednesday by the President of Romania, through a meeting with the USR leader, Dominic Fritz, who excluded an alliance with PSD.
Also on Thursday, according to sources cited by publications such as Newsweek and Gândul, the PSD leader, Sorin Grindeanu, was expected at Cotroceni. Sources like B1 TV claim that on Thursday there will also be a meeting with Nicușor Dan and Ilie Bolojan.
And Europa FM reports that Ilie Bolojan for PNL and Sorin Grindeanu from PSD were also expected at Cotroceni.
We remind that yesterday the general secretary of PSD, Claudiu Manda, stated that the social democrats will propose Sorin Grindeanu as prime minister if the party is asked to give the prime minister position.
