Following Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan's statements about the need to raise the retirement age to avoid the unsustainability of the pension system, former Minister of Labor, Marius Budăi, rejected this idea, emphasizing that it is out of the question. The Government's spokesperson, Ioana Dogioiu, confirmed that the Executive is not discussing such an increase. Budăi highlighted the importance of increasing healthy life expectancy before considering changing the retirement age, mentioning that it is already 65 years, while healthy life expectancy in Romania is approximately 59-60 years.
