Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated that the Social Democratic Party (PSD) must acknowledge if it is unable to propose solutions for the current governmental crisis. In an interview on Antena 1, Bolojan emphasized that Romania has functioned for many years with minority governments and that this situation could continue. He mentioned that PNL made a recent decision, and PSD has the responsibility to come up with a proposal to resolve the crisis it generated. Bolojan highlighted the importance of a majority to ensure the efficiency of governance, considering that many laws require the support of a majority in Parliament. However, he acknowledged that minority governments have been a historical reality in Romania and that it is possible to find ourselves in this situation again.
"The National Liberal Party made a decision yesterday, and it is the responsibility of the Social Democratic Party to come up with a proposal for the crisis it created. If they are unable to come up with a solution, they must acknowledge this; at least it is a matter of common sense to do so. In this situation, we have a responsibility in governance, and we need to see what the solutions will be in this situation to move forward. Because Romania cannot remain without a functional government, because regardless of who leaves and who comes, serious problems remain and cannot be solved overnight, but this means taking responsibility for certain things, to come to an agreement," stated Ilie Bolojan.
