Sorin Grindeanu, the leader of the PSD, declared on Wednesday that the party is considering taking over the position of prime minister before the deadline set in the Coalition protocol, namely April 2027. He emphasized that, following consultations with party members, there is no desire to continue in the current governing format, stating that "everyone is to blame" for the dysfunctions of the Coalition. Grindeanu mentioned that a reorganization of the Coalition is possible or even moving into opposition, considering that no colleague wishes to continue in the current form. He also indicated that changing the protocol regarding the rotation of prime ministers is an option, emphasizing that the PSD does not shy away from responsibility. Additionally, Grindeanu stated that there is a majority in Parliament without the PSD, but excluded supporting a minority government or alliances with extremist parties.
