Sorin Grindeanu, the president of the PSD and the Chamber of Deputies, stated that Romania should notify the European Commission regarding the restart of coal production units, considering the current energy crisis.
He emphasized that he does not want restrictions for the population, mentioning that household consumption is relatively small compared to the total need.
Grindeanu criticized the inaction of the authorities in notifying the European Commission and stressed that it is essential to find alternative solutions, even if they contradict the Green Deal policies.
"PSD is willing, first of all, to see what the needs of Romanians are. Taking this example to the extreme, I do not want to be left in the dark in Romania, because Pîslaru wants us to have a Green Deal," Grindeanu stated.
He highlighted that no official calculation regarding the impact of restarting coal units has been presented and called for an assessment of the losses and costs involved.
