The president of AUR, George Simion, declared on Monday that AUR is taking on the formation of a government with PSD, in the context in which Marian Neacșu (PSD) and Petrișor Peiu (AUR) announced an alliance of the two parties to submit a motion of censure against the Bolojan Government.
When asked if AUR is taking on the formation of a government alongside PSD, Simion replied: 'Of course we are taking it on', according to Agerpres.
"We are willing to ensure any government that can generate fair elections. We did not have fair elections in 2024 and 2025. Nicușor Dan did not do his duty, he did not present any report regarding the annulment of the elections (...) The first step we are taking to achieve our political objectives is to pass this motion of censure. Let's see that everyone keeps their word," George Simion added.
The AUR leader said that if the 233 signatures are gathered, „în 5 mai vom avea un vot pentru debarcarea Guvernului Bolojan”.
How the distribution of mandates in Parliament looks like:
In the Chamber of Deputies, PSD has 94 parliamentarians, AUR – 62, PNL- 51, USR-40, UDMR – 22, minorities – 17, SOS-15, POT-16, and independents-13. In the Senate, PSD has 36 members, AUR-28, PNL- 22, USR-19, PACE-12, UDMR-10, while independents -6. Thus, PSD has 130 parliamentarians, while AUR – 90.
The only robust mathematical scenario for the passage of the motion is an extended coalition: PSD + AUR + SOS + POT + PACE + part of the independents, which can theoretically exceed 232 votes.
