Extraordinary Congress of PNL, Sunday at Romexpo: 2,500 delegates and a single candidate for the party leadership, Ilie Bolojan

The extraordinary congress of PNL will take place on Sunday, starting at 12:00, at Romexpo, with the participation of 2,500 delegates, after president Nicușor Dan appointed Adrian Veștea as prime minister without consulting the party.

Ilie Bolojan, the current interim president of PNL, is the only candidate for the party leadership, with the motion "Modernization with Roots", which supports the necessity of reforming and modernizing the organization, without giving up its fundamental values.

His team includes Dan Motreanu, proposed for the position of first vice president, and Robert Sighiartău, proposed for that of general secretary, along with Mircea Abrudean, Ioan Popa, Siegfried Mureșan, Oana Gheorghiu, Alexandru Muraru, Dragoș Pîslaru, Florin Roman and Gabriela Horga, proposed for the positions of vice presidents.

Adrian Veștea criticized this team, claiming that they marginalize experienced liberals and promote, instead, individuals he described as "newcomers" and "opportunists".

The congress will modify the PNL Statute, including the creation of the National Permanent Bureau and the dissolution of BEX.

Veștea, who initially wanted to run, decided not to participate, considering the congress to be unconstitutional. He was also excluded from PNL, and his supporters contest the legality of the decisions made.

Meanwhile, Adrian Veștea announced that he will continue the dialogue with political parties to finalize the government program and the government team. However, the investment of the new Executive remains uncertain, after PNL and USR and UDMR announced that they do not support the Veștea variant.
