Eugen Tomac, the designated prime minister, stated in an interview for Politico that his government will continue austerity measures, maintaining the objectives of reducing the budget deficit without introducing new labor taxes. He emphasized the importance of finalizing the PNRR, implementing the SAFE facility, and joining the OECD, considering them essential for Romania's economic credibility.

Tomac promised a business-friendly approach, committing to restore dialogue with entrepreneurs and reduce bureaucracy. He mentioned that there will be no room for fiscal expansion, but he will collaborate with all pro-European political forces to maintain budget stability. Tomac warned that unfair austerity measures could fuel extremism and called for the publication of the report regarding the cancellation of the 2024 elections. He also confirmed that he would resign from his position as a Member of the European Parliament if he is invested as prime minister.
