Before the announcement regarding a possible new government on Tuesday, Nicușor Dan stated that negotiations to form the Executive had reached an advanced stage and that discussions were underway about political agreements with the designated prime minister. He spoke of a process that could lead to a government being put to a vote in Parliament, following meetings and consultations with political leaders.
Meanwhile, the president organized rounds of consultations with parliamentary parties and called for consensus and compromises to secure a majority. In previous messages, Nicușor Dan insisted that Romania must maintain its pro-Western direction and honor the financial commitments undertaken toward external partners, amid a fragmented Parliament and the absence of a clear majority.
At the same time, in preparation for political decisions, scenarios concerning governing arrangements and options for the position of prime minister were mentioned, while the timetable was also being monitored in light of certain benchmarks related to external evaluations. In this context, the president conveyed that the urgency of forming a government remains high and that stable parliamentary support is necessary.
