Eugen Tomac criticized the decision of the designated Prime Minister Adrian Veștea to negotiate with representatives of AUR, labeling the event as "a public relations mistake." Tomac specified that, from his point of view, dialogue with this party was excluded from the start: "The leadership of the AUR party is one that plays without rules (...) I think it would have been more appropriate for this meeting not to take place."

Eugen Tomac emphasized that the decision to go to the AUR headquarters belonged entirely to Adrian Veștea, rejecting speculations regarding the involvement of the head of state: "The President of Romania did not encourage or send the designated Prime Minister to have discussions with those from AUR." Tomac added that President Nicușor Dan firmly requested "a program to keep Romania anchored in the Euro-Atlantic relationship" and concluded that, unlike the designated Prime Minister, he chose to assume the boycott of these discussions: "I, for example, chose not to go and discuss with those from AUR."
