Libertarian parliamentarians Raluca Turcan and Daniel Fenechiu have initiated a project to amend the Law on the organization and functioning of the Constitutional Court (CCR), which aims to sanction the unexcused absences of judges. The project stipulates that judges will be required to attend plenary meetings, and unexcused absences will be financially penalized by 10% of the gross allowance for each absence. Additionally, judges who are absent three times in a row or who are in a state of incompatibility may be revoked by Parliament or the President of Romania.

Raluca Turcan emphasizes that these measures do not affect the independence of judges and are intended to restore the credibility of the CCR, which has been affected by boycotts and repeated delays of important decisions, such as those regarding the pensions of magistrates. The project will be submitted to parliamentary debate to establish minimum standards of conduct within the CCR.
