<p>Internal elections in USR are currently underway, and sources point to a favorable situation for Dominic Fritz, the interim president. A number of other candidates, including Violeta Alexandru and Vasile-Gabriel Filip, are also running in the race. The election process is being held in two rounds, and if a majority is not achieved in the first round, a second round will take place from June 16-18. The new president will be formally validated on June 21, and USR will have a new leader quickly established after former leader Elena Lasconi resigned following a poor result in the presidential election.
