Cristian Diaconescu, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, warned that the conflict within the judicial system could become a serious problem for the state. Invited to Digi24, he emphasized the importance of quickly de-escalating the situation with the support of all state institutions, including the president, to avoid the politicization of the conflict. Diaconescu proposed the use of existing legal mechanisms, suggesting that the president should participate in the meetings of the Superior Council of Magistracy to find rational solutions. He emphasized that prolonging the conflict could turn an internal crisis into a state vulnerability, considering the fundamental role of justice in a democracy. He also rejected the idea of a conflict between the Presidency and the judiciary, stating that the issues are internal within the judicial system. Regarding the referendum announced by Nicușor Dan, Diaconescu highlighted the necessity of respecting the legal framework, mentioning that such an initiative must comply with existing legislation. He stressed the importance of consensus among institutions to improve the judicial system and ensure accountability among magistrates.
