Claudiu Manda claims that Ilie Bolojan remains at the head of the government with “Simion’s vote”

PSD Secretary-General Claudiu Manda accuses AUR leader George Simion of keeping interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan in office, even though the government led by him was dismissed through a no-confidence motion. The statements were made during the “Adevărul Interviews” program.

Manda claims that Bolojan could remain interim prime minister for an extended period if the parliamentary parties fail to form a new majority. In his view, a new government could be built around the PSD, with the support of smaller parliamentary groups, representatives of ethnic minorities and, possibly, the UDMR.

The Social Democratic leader said that the PSD is willing to participate in forming a government with full powers and criticized the USR’s position, saying it showed less responsibility than the UDMR. Manda called Bolojan a “liar” and publicly challenged his statements.

At the same time, the PSD does not rule out early elections, but warns that they would generate costs for Romania and would not guarantee an end to the crisis. According to internal polls cited by Manda, the party would win at least 24% of the vote, compared with 21.7% in the parliamentary elections. Manda also said that the Social Democrats would have accepted a technocratic government with a limited mandate.
