Social Democrat Ciprian Șerban, former Minister of Transport, accuses designated Prime Minister Siegfried Mureșan of including “anti-Romanian” measures in the governing program. The statement was made on Sunday in a Facebook post, in which the former minister criticizes the provisions concerning the companies subordinate to the Ministry of Transport.
Șerban claims that the program could lead to the sale of Bucharest Airports National Company and the Constanța Maritime Ports Administration National Company. The two companies manage critical infrastructure and, according to the former minister, are among the most profitable companies in the ministry’s portfolio.
Ciprian Șerban says that, at the beginning of the year, while he was coordinating the ministry, the two companies began procedures to acquire stakes held by Fondul Proprietatea. He claims that this operation would facilitate the absorption of European funds and accelerate development projects.
In his view, the governing program would first block the restoration of the full shareholdings, and would subsequently allow the companies to be divested through a sale. Șerban described the proposal as a possible “betrayal of the country”.
