The Mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, stated that the General City Hall should coordinate and execute large infrastructure projects, but due to a chronic lack of funding in 2024 and 2025, it has not been able to implement such projects. In a press conference, Ciucu explained that the sector city halls have taken over infrastructure initiatives, assuming projects that exceed their administrative level. He emphasized that normally, the General City Hall should be responsible for these large works, but in recent years, it has lost some of its administrative capacity. The mayor mentioned that it is evident that the sector city halls have intervened in this context, which is not ideal for the efficient coordination of infrastructure projects in Bucharest.

"In recent years, the Capital City Hall has lost some administrative capacity, and against this background, the sector city halls with mayors who have been in office longer have taken on projects that the Bucharest municipality could no longer implement for various reasons, including a chronic lack of funding in 2024 and 2025, to carry out large projects. Normally, the General City Hall should execute the large projects, and everything that happens in the city regarding major infrastructure should be under the coordination of the municipality of Bucharest. It is only normal for something like this to happen. It is evident that in other sectors, the sector city halls have also taken on projects that were beyond their administrative level," said the Mayor of the Capital.
