Călin Georgescu, former candidate for the Romanian presidency, will be heard on Tuesday, May 27, at the General Prosecutor's Office in connection with his controversial statements on Realitatea TV, where he quoted legionary leader Corneliu Zelea Codreanu. Under judicial control, Georgescu is not allowed to engage in legionary propaganda. The Legionary Movement, associated with political murders and pogroms, was a criminal phenomenon in the inter-war period. Georgescu has been criticized for his glorification of Codreanu and was previously proposed as prime minister by AUR, but withdrew after a criminal case was opened.
