Former presidential candidate Călin Georgescu is being questioned on Wednesday at DIICOT in a new criminal case, after he allegedly asked a man to check his villa in Mogoșoaia to identify any recording devices installed by investigators. The man who allegedly carried out the check is also being questioned at DIICOT.
Prosecutors conducted two searches in Bucharest in a case concerning illegal operations involving computer devices or programs, as well as the attempted alteration of computer data and disruption of the functioning of computer systems.
According to DIICOT, on September 26, a 35-year-old man allegedly scanned the property of another suspect, aged 64, to identify audio-video recording equipment and interfere with its operation. Judicial sources cited by Agerpres claim that the 64-year-old suspect is Călin Georgescu.
The action allegedly took place after the home search conducted by prosecutors on September 21, when technical surveillance measures were also ordered. The intended result allegedly did not occur for reasons beyond the suspects’ control. This is the fourth criminal case opened against Georgescu.
