Shortly before the referendum, Daniel Băluță, the leader of PSD Bucharest, published a message on Facebook in which he accuses the general mayor Ciprian Ciucu of behaving like a tormentor, stating that he divides people into "good" and "bad" based on political sympathies. Băluță argues that Ciucu's attitude does not reflect the necessary balance, but rather a stigmatization of Romanians who support PSD.
In response, Ciprian Ciucu stated that PSD has created an artificial political crisis, emphasizing that PNL will no longer be part of a coalition with PSD, accusing the social democrats of instability. Ciucu mentioned that Romanians no longer trust PSD and highlighted the failure of the current coalition as also a failure of President Nicușor Dan. In the context of the political crisis, polls show a decline in trust in parties, with AUR in the lead.
