AUR leadership, including President George Simion, has held meetings in recent weeks with the ambassadors of the United States, China, India, Turkey, Pakistan, Egypt, Argentina, and Bulgaria, as well as with the Czech Foreign Minister, Petr Macinka. The discussions focused on Romania’s political and institutional situation, as well as the development of bilateral relations.
According to a statement issued by the party on Thursday, AUR representatives addressed the state of democracy and the functioning of democratic institutions in Romania, including the case of Călin Georgescu, the annulment of the presidential elections, and the prospect of holding snap elections.
The meetings also addressed opportunities for cooperation in strategic and economic areas, as well as prospects for strengthening Romania’s partnerships with the countries represented.
AUR announced that it had also requested a meeting with representatives of the European Commission for a dialogue on the state of democracy in Romania. The party claims that it has not yet received a response to the request submitted. The party presented these efforts as part of a strategy to promote Romania’s interests internationally.
