Petrișor Peiu, the leader of the AUR senators, stated that his party does not negotiate the formation of a government with other political formations and warned that they might boycott the official consultations led by President Nicușor Dan if these turn out to be just a formality for show.
Peiu criticized the idea of informal negotiations before the official consultations, emphasizing that AUR will not participate in meetings that do not have a real purpose.
He also categorically rejected any discussions with PSD or PNL for the creation of a majority, mentioning that the joint vote on the censure motion did not constitute a political alliance.
Peiu highlighted that PSD has excluded collaboration with AUR for the formation of the government, influenced by Nicușor Dan.
Romania has been in a political crisis since May, after the dismissal of the government led by Ilie Bolojan, and the consultations for a new majority have been complicated by the failures of the prime ministerial proposals.
