The new Minister of Development, Public Administration and Public Works, Alexandru Stoica, on Wednesday called for the nationwide centralization of all outstanding invoices for projects financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). The data will be used to draft the state budget for 2027.
The request was made after he took over the mandate from Cseke Attila. The minister called for a detailed record of unpaid invoices, including the beneficiary municipalities and the works for which payment obligations exist.
Alexandru Stoica warned that some Romanian companies are facing a difficult financial situation, with some close to bankruptcy. He stressed that public investments must continue, but the ministry needs a complete overview of the amounts owed and the projects under way in order to set its budgetary priorities correctly.
The new minister also called for improved communication within the ministry, between directors, the institution's leadership and subordinate structures. He said that mayors quickly relay information about investments to their communities and must receive clear data on the status of projects.
Stoica also spoke about the good cooperation he had with Cseke Attila during the period when he served as a state secretary at the ministry.
