Mihai Ghigiu, nominated by the PSD for the Ministry of Investments and European Projects in the government led by Luca Niculescu, announces that he will order an internal audit regarding the absorption of European funds and delays in payments to project beneficiaries.

In a message posted on Facebook, Ghigiu says that the first step will be to analyze the state of absorption under the current financial framework, in order to identify bottlenecks and investment opportunities. He will also check whether staff overload is contributing to delays and argues that the dismissed government, led by Ilie Bolojan, must explain how it handled the situation.

Among the announced priorities are fulfilling the conditions for receiving the remaining amounts from the NRRP, preparing the documents requested by the European Commission, and identifying alternative sources for projects at risk of not being completed. Ghigiu also promises to simplify procedures, monitor delays, and appoint those responsible for resolving the problems.

The proposed new minister also aims to accelerate the Just Transition Programme, to finance companies and provide vocational training in counties affected by industrial transformations. At the same time, the ministry is expected to prepare the National and Regional Partnership Plan for the 2028-2034 period, together with local authorities, universities, and the business community. Ghigiu says he will periodically present the results regarding the funds attracted and investments unblocked.
